How to Stay Motivated for Finals

When finals come around, it is a time of stress and the allure of the upcoming school break. It can be hard to stay motivated for finals, and I am going to give some of my tips for working hard so that you can keep motivated until all of your finals are over.

Killer Harmony | Staying motivated through finals week can be difficult. That is why you need to figure out what will motivate you to stay on track with your studies.

Motivation is the root of issues such as procrastination, so I am going to list some of my biggest motivators.

Your GPA

I rely on scholarships to help pay for my education, and if financial aid plays any part in your education, your grades are important. Whether you have scholarships or loans, your grades can be a big factor in determining whether you will be awarded a scholarship for another year. Grades are also important if you plan to apply to graduate school. Without much work experience, grades can play a big role in your acceptance (or lack thereof) to a graduate program.

Peace of Mind

Another reason for working hard on my finals is that it gives me a peace of mind during the final. If I study enough, I can be confident that I will do well on the test. I don’t have to worry about thinking about all of the answers or stressing out about my answers. Studying and being as prepared as I can lowers my test anxiety. It can also be a great way to bring down stress later in the week.

Using a To Do List

If you get motivated by checking things off a list, put different courses or topics on a to do (or to study) list. When you complete a chapter or finish a review, you can check it off. This brings such an amazing feeling, and it makes studying a little easier.

Taking BReaks

Not only can breaks be a motivator themselves, but they can help you stay alert and productive when you study. Strategically placed breaks can help you stay on track with your studies and keep you from getting bored with the material. I love taking quickness breaks to allow my brain to refocus and get ready to tackle another bit of studying.

So, those are some of the things that motivate me to study for finals and to stay on track. Do you have any other tips domain motivators? Let me know in the comments! Be sure to catch up with my previous post and follow me on Twitter (@HannahHaefele) so you don’t miss future posts!
